As House of the Dragon reaches the halfway point of the first series, a 10-year time jump is expected, with a host of new actors being introduced to play older versions of existing characters, including Aegon Targaryen.
Up to this point he has only been shown as a toddler in the Game of Thrones spinoff, however, in a teaser for the upcoming episode viewers get their first glimpse of him as a teenager, played by Ty Tennant.
He is the son of former Doctor Who David Tennant, who played the Tenth Doctor from 2005-2010.

However, his dad isn’t the only person to be involved with the iconic British sci-fi show.
His mum, Georgia Tennant, starred in the show opposite his dad as the Doctors’ ‘artificially created daughter’, which is where the pair met.
The House of the Dragon actor is Georgia’s child from a previous relationship whom Tennant adopted.
His granddad Peter Moffett, better known by his stage name Peter Davison, was the fifth Doctor and he occupied the Tardis between 1981-1984.
Ty has so far only had minor roles in shows such as Doom Patrol, Casualty, Around the World in 80 Days, and Fox’s adaptation of War of the Worlds.

Fans on social media are excited about his arrival in House of the Dragon, especially as David Tennant’s Dr Who successor, Matt Smith, is also in the show as Daemon Targaryen.
On Twitter, one fan tweeted: “David Tennant’s son is going to be in House of the Dragon alongside Matt Smith, so is the whole show going to turn out to be a different timeline on a Doctor Who special lol.”
Another viewer added: “So House of the Dragon not only has a Doctor, but they also bagged a Doctor’s son?”
“Hold on this show has the 11th Doctor and the son of the 10th Doctor?” questioned a third fan.
Someone else tweeted: “First Matt Smith now David Tennant’s son. Doctor Who universe is coming.”
The time jump in House of the Dragon will also see Milly Alcock and Emily Carey replaced by Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, who will play adult versions of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower.
Explaining why the 10-year gap between episodes 5 and 6 was necessary, showrunner Ryan Condal explained it was needed to tell the story ‘correctly’.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he said: “This is how you tell this story correctly. We’re telling a story of a generational war. We set everything up so by the time that first sword stroke falls, you understand all the players.”
Despite Condal’s clear plan, HBO and HBO Max content chief Casey Bloys admitted he was initially ‘nervous’ about the concept for House of the Dragon, but is happy with the results now that he has seen it work.
In the same interview, he added: “It made me nervous because it’s hard enough to cast any role, but if you’re casting two characters of different ages, you have to be right four times.
“Now that I’ve seen the result, I feel really good about it.”
While the younger Tennant will be appearing in one iconic franchise, his dad will be reappearing in another.

He will be stepping back into the blue box to reprise his role as the Doctor in the 60th-anniversary episode of Doctor Who.
Not much is known about his return, but Tennant was spotted filming scenes in Bristol.
How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris has also been confirmed to appear in the episode, with many fans speculating that he will be playing a mysterious villain.
House of the Dragon is available to watch from 2am on Mondays in the UK on Sky and NOW TV, and is repeated at 9pm on Monday evenings. It is also available to stream on Sky and NOW after first being aired.
