Blonde viewers have called a scene featuring Marilyn Monroe and President John F. Kennedy ‘disgusting’.
The Netflix film, which is the first movie from the streaming service to earn an NC-17 rating, was released on September 28.
Despite reaching number one on the Top 10 Films in the UK, Blonde has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 45% and has been described as a difficult watch, with some viewers claiming they turned the film off after ‘20 minutes’.

The Blonde JFK scene that is causing a discussion involves Monroe (played by Ana De Armas) getting drugged and taken to ‘The President’ (Caspar Phillipson).
She is then forced to carry out oral s** before being thrown onto a bed as JKF jumps on top of her.
The camera then cuts to black as Monroe shrieks.
Viewers have been discussing the scene on social media and said it’s a ‘degrading depiction’ of the iconic star.

One person on Twitter posted: “I’m wondering why it’s NC-17 then comes the JFK scene for the most degrading depiction of Marilyn Monroe.”
Someone else shared: “Why would the film Blonde fabricate a graphic r*** of Marilyn Monroe by JFK? Disgusting exploitation. Hard pass.”
“The JFK scene in Blonde is gonna really ruffle some feathers. Whoo boy,” expressed a third viewer.
One individual said how they enjoyed the film and praised De Armas’ performance, however, they didn’t enjoy the Blonde JFK scene.
They tweeted: “So I just finished watching Blonde and like the film is… something to say the least. Ana definitely is an amazing actress though. I will say, the JFK scene, totally disgusting and should’ve never made the cut.”
Other users questioned the validity of the scene and whether this actually happened, with one viewer sharing: “I don’t know if this has been validated or not? It’s a big leap to lie about it though.”
“Blonde since Marilyn didn’t leave any relatives behind, I hope the John F. Kennedy family sues the hell out of Netflix, Andrew Dominik, Ana de Armas and Brad Pitt for falsely claiming JFK r**** Marilyn,” slammed another individual.
Viewers also claimed they found the film ‘unwatchable’.
“Tried to watch Blonde. Couldn’t stomach more than about 20 minutes of the nearly three hours long. That 20 minutes was nothing but cruel and heartbreaking. Absolutely unwatchable,” admitted one viewer.
A second person shared: “Nah…the beginning of this Blonde movie not for the faint of heart. I’m about ready to turn it off in the first 15 minutes.”
However, there has been some praise for the direction of Blonde and the ‘bold’ decisions it makes.
A viewer tweeted: “Blonde is the bold, fearless, grand and haunting Marilyn epic that needed to be filmed. The direction is confident and brave. The cinematography [is]so rich and dazzling. Ana attacks this fervently with a stunning Oscar-worthy performance. This is a masterful, must-see Netflix movie.”
Another fan agreed with this sentiment as they shared: “Quite liked this one. Memorable aspects include Ana de Armas’s performance is one for the ages and the technical aspect of the film is pretty impressive from the black & white shots, aspect ratio, lighting, framing and lenses all worked perfectly.”

Despite the negative reaction to the sexual scenes in Blonde, De Armas admitted that she did not feel exploited during those scenes.
“It’s harder for people to watch [those scenes] than for me to make them because I understood what I was doing and I felt very protected and safe,” said the Knives Out actress as she was speaking to Entertainment Weekly.
She continued: “I didn’t feel exploited because I was in control. I made that decision. I knew what the movie I was doing.
“I felt like I was in a safe environment. We had hundreds of conversations about these scenes. Everyone felt a deep respect for the movie we were making.
“And in that sense, I had no fear. I didn’t feel uncomfortable at all, even though they were really hard scenes.”
Blonde is now available to watch on Netflix.
