Bradley Walsh has revealed his plans to retire from The Chase after 12 years on the hit game show.

The 61-year-old made the admission while appearing on the Sliding Doors podcast.

He said: “You know what? In a couple of years time, I won’t have to do any of it, I’ll be retired and that’ll be it.”

Elsewhere in the chat, Walsh opened up about the pressures of his busy schedule and claimed he doesn’t get much time off.

He said: “It seems like I’m on your screen all the time only because I cram everything in a certain area of the year.

“We make 210 Chases, 16 Celebrity Chases, 16 Beat The Chasers. It’s only actually 86 days recording.

“So out of 365 days, you’d imagine I have loads of time off. But once you’ve got your bedrock of shows set in, that allows you then to go off and do other things.

“I don’t actually have time off, I have meetings, I have personal appearances I have to make and stuff like that with other things I’ve got going on, so it’s quite tricky to juggle it about.”

Understandably, fans have been left gutted by the news of Walsh’s potential retirement.

On Twitter, one person peened: “Bradley Walsh leaving The Chase is the worst thing since unsliced bread.”

In agreement, another added: “Bradley Walsh leaving The Chase has just ruined my weekend.”

Walsh has fronted The Chase ever since it premiered back in 2009.

The programme has a regular audience of three to five million and is one of ITV’s most successful daytime shows ever.

It has also become an international franchise in recent years and regional versions have been made in Australia, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Israel, Norway, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Turkey, and the United States.
