Brazilian singer Viviane de Queiroz Pereira has gone viral after she opened up about being ‘hospitalised’ when she ‘refused to fart in front of her boyfriend’.

The artist, who is known by her stage name Pocah, took to Instagram earlier this week and told her followers about the embarrassing trip to A&E.

In her stories, she said: “Girls, don’t be ashamed to fart in front of your guy, because what’s really embarrassing is not letting your guy sleep because you’re in discomfort, going to [the] hospital with your guy, and the diagnosis being ‘trapped farts’.

“From now on, I’m letting them rip, guys.”

The singer added: “I’m medicated and I’m fine.”

According to Metro, she decided to hold her farts in after watching a TikTok video in which they told her to simply ignore any discomfort.

Since Pereira’s story has blown online, she’s managed to laugh at the incident and has even taken to Twitter where she’s joked about her ‘international fart’.

After hearing of the story, one person tweeted: “This is silly to me. Like, go in the bathroom – alone – and handle natural bodily functions. PSA: you don’t have to do it in front of anyone.”

“He’s not your man if you can’t fart in front of him,” a second commented.

Healthline claims that if a person attempts to hold in a fart, it can be dangerous for the body. Typical side effects include pain, swelling, bloating and belching.

Mayo Clinic says that in extreme cases, a person can even develop diverticulitis, which is a condition where the ‘bulging pouches can form in the lining of your digestive system’.
