Dana White is facing backlash from fans after he reportedly handed out $250,000 to a YouTuber, despite a number of his fighters speaking up about unfair pay in the organisation.

The UFC President gave Kyle from the popular prank channel Nelk Boys a quarter of a million dollars as a birthday present.

However, this generous gift has not gone down well on social media, with many pointing out how underpaid the fighters on his roster are.

On Twitter, one tweeted: “Dana White giving the Nelk Boys 250k whilst his fighters get paid less than 30-40k per fight (including win bonuses) is the most Dana White thing that I have ever seen.”

Someone else said: “Dana White gave Kyle 250k (money he doesn’t need) while he underpays his fighters who risk their lives in the cage trying to make a living for their families.”

Many of his fighters have recently spoken out about how underpaid they are in comparison to how much revenue the company makes and other combat sports like boxing.

Even journalists and celebrities, such as Jake Paul, have expressed their disapproval of the way the UFC pay their roster.

Jorge Masvidal, who is one of the UFC’s biggest stars, recently spoke publicly about fighter pay.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani, he said: “All that matters is that we get in there and kick someone’s ass, that’s all they care for. It comes down to fighters, the only breed like ourselves are other fighters. Many good things and many also bad things (come from that).

“Fighters are very individualised. If we were all able to get together and voice our opinions as one, these paychecks we would see just rise, from me all the way to the bottom guys,”

White has often fired back when asked about the issue, usually stating ‘it’s the way to run a business’ and fighters don’t worry about that side of the sport.

Speaking on The Pivot Podcast, he said: “The truth is, you get some of these guys that – you can walk in and say, ‘I want $30 million dollars.’ Okay, based on what? I do too. Give me $30million. We all want $30million, but based on what? And you’re never going to have the guys on the other side worrying about the business of the sport.”
