An influencer has been branded ‘tone deaf’ after ‘using the Ukraine crisis to promote her bikini range’.

Danielle Bernstein, who manages the highly popular Instagram page @weworewhat, recently took to the social media platform to ‘raise awareness,’ while simultaneously getting the word out about her new swimwear collection.

According to the page @defnoodles, which has screenshots of the now-deleted caption, the influencer argued that content creators can ‘post about fashion and post about world issues’.

The post apparently read: “When I say you can do BOTH, I truly mean it. You can post about fashion and post about world issues. You can raise awareness for your new collection while also raising money to give back. You can go about your day while also showing compassion and reaching out to others.”

It continued: “What’s going on in the world right now is terrifying, and I know posting a photo in a bikini isn’t helping anyone – but you know what will?

“The proceeds from this swim launch going towards an on-the-ground organisation in Ukraine.

“Stay tuned for more on the giveback for this collection (available March 1st).”

It’s believed that after Bernstein faced criticism for the caption, she changed it and disabled the comments feature.

Before the influencer took action on the post, several supposedly took to the comments and slammed the content creator.

“She’s literally the worst, why do people keep supporting her?” one questioned.

Another added: “Every time I see something about a tone deaf influencer it’s always Danielle Bernstein.”

“Her intention was probably in a good place when she posted this, and the tone deaf part was her posting a shot in a bikini,” a third wrote. “Bless her for giving back, but she could have chosen another photo.”

According to Bernstein’s post, her team has now managed to ‘send $250,000 worth of refugee relief to Ukraine,’ but she has apparently ‘delayed’ the swimwear launch due to the ‘current situation’.
