Katherine Heigl regretted starring in the 2007 film Knocked Up at one point in her career.
The romantic comedy, starring the Grey’s Anatomy actress and Seth Rogen, follows two young adults who deal with an unexpected pregnancy after having a one-night stand.
Directed by Judd Apatow, the film was a commercial success after its release and grossed $219 million at the box office.
Critics loved the film too, with Claudia Puig writing in her review for USA Today (via Rotten Tomatoes): “What makes the movie so winning are its endearing and relatable characters who spout believable dialogue and amusing banter, steeped in clever pop-culture references and sharp observations of human nature.”
While the film was received with overwhelmingly positive reviews and a global success, it seems Heigl wasn’t entirely happy with how Knocked Up turned out.

Heigl has been open and critical of the film since its release, revealing that she wasn’t impressed with how female characters were portrayed in the movie.
In a 2008 interview with Vanity Fair (recited from a 2016 Vanity Fair article), the 27 Dresses star admitted that she found the comedy ‘a little sexist’ and that it showed women as ‘humourless’.
Heigl said: “It paints the women as shrews, as humourless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys.
“It exaggerated the characters, and I had a hard time with it, on some days. I’m playing such a b****; why is she being such a killjoy? Why is this how you’re portraying women?
“Ninety-eight per cent of the time it was an amazing experience, but it was hard for me to love the movie.”
However, when appearing on The Howard Stern Show in 2016, Heigl did clarify that the comments that were made in her interview were taken out of context and backtracked on her initial criticism.
She explained: “I liked the movie a lot. I just didn’t like me. The character.
“She was so judgmental and uptight and controlling and all of these things.”
“Judd allows everyone to be really free and improvise and whatever, and afterwards, I was like, ‘Why is that where I went with this?’.”

Despite Heigl’s initial criticism, Rogen has revealed that while he was taken back by the comments, he doesn’t hold any grudges against the star.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the Superbad actor added: “I respect the fact that perhaps she realises that it has hurt her career, and I don’t want that to have happened to her at all because I’ve said a thousand stupid things and I really like her.”
He then recalled an awkward experience the pair had when they bumped into each other at dinner shortly after Heigl’s comments and he thought that ‘she hated him’.
