Robert De Niro’s grandson, Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, has tragically died at just 19 years old.
De Niro, 79, is one the world’s most influential actors, having starred in films such as Taxi Driver, Goodfellas and The Irishman.
The Casino star has seven children and his eldest daughter, Drena – from his first marriage to Diahnne Abbott – has shared the devastating news that her son has passed away.
She’s taken to Instagram and shared an emotional statement.

It reads: “My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly. You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life.
“I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you. I don’t know how to live without you but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama.
“You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you I’m so sorry my baby, I’m so sorry @carlosmare. Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy.”

Leandro’s father, Carlos Mare, has also taken to Instagram to post a blacked-out snap on his profile, but he has not made any public statements as of yet.
Tributes for the teenager have been pouring in on social media.
Once Upon a Time actress Lana Parrilla writes: “Drena, I’m so deeply sorry. Sending you an enormous amount of love, prayers and strength. May God be with you and all who love your darling boy.”
Writer Victoria Gotti says she has been left ‘heartbroken’ by the tragic news.
While White Guys Can’t Jump actress Rosie Perez pens: “Shocked! I’m so sorry! We are all here for you !!! I love you too much!”
De Niro hasn’t publically commented on his grandson’s death as of yet.
At the time of writing, Leandro’s cause of death is yet to be disclosed.
Leandro was born on June 25, 2004, and he had grown up following in his famous family member’s footsteps of becoming an actor.

He had small roles in 2018’s A Star Is Born and Cabaret Maxime, as well as The Collection in 2005.
De Niro adopted Leandro’s mother Drena during his marriage to Abbott. She is from Abbott’s previous marriage.
The former couple also share a son named Raphael.
De Niro has three other grandchildren, who are the children of Raphael.
