Legendary football star Luis Suárez Miramontes, who was nicknamed ‘The Architect’, has died.
Suárez, 88, was widely regarded as one of Spain’s greatest-ever players.
Throughout his career, he played for Barcelona and Inter Milan before managing Spain for three years.
It has now been confirmed that the sports legend has passed away.

Following the saddening news, Barcelona has released a statement which reads: “Luis Suárez Miramontes died this Sunday in Milan at the age of 88.
“Affectionately known as ‘Luisito’, he is considered by everyone to be one of the best players in the history of Spanish football, as well as being a key part of Barca in the second half of the 1950s.”
While Inter Milan wrote a statement that says: “FC Internazionale Milano, its president Steven Zhang, the Vice President Javier Zanetti, the CEOs Alessandro Antonello and Giuseppe Marotta, the coach Simone Inzaghi and his staff, the players and the entire Inter world join in mourning the loss of Luis Suarez and, in remembering him, they embrace his family members.”

It continues: “Saying goodbye to Luisito leaves us with a deep melancholy: the nostalgia of his perfect and inimitable football, which in fact inspired generations, joins the memory of a unique footballer and a great, great Inter player.”

At the time of writing, a cause of death has yet to be disclosed.
Suárez was a midfielder for Barcelona, Inter Milan and Sampdoria during his star-studded career from 1953 to 1973.
He managed the Spanish national team and led them to the second round of the World Cup at Italia 90.
Suárez kickstarted his career at Deportivo La Coruna before making his way over to Barcelona, where he played from 1955 to 1961. He led the team to victory by winning two La Liga titles during his time there.
His crowning personal achievement came in 1960 when he beat Real Madrid star Ferenc Puskss to the Ballon d’Or. He remains Spain’s only male winner of the award.
Suárez then moved on to Inter Milan in 1961 where he made 328 appearances over the next nine years, scoring 55 goals from midfield.
