‘Come Outside’s’ Lynda Baron Dies, Aged 82

Lynda Baron, who starred in the children’s TV show Come Outside and the sitcom Open All Hours, has died, aged 82. 

The saddening news has been confirmed by the actress’ agent of 30 years, Donna French, who stated that ‘a leading light of our world’ has been lost.

The full statement reads: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved client Lynda Baron.

“She was a wonderful actress and a great friend.

“Her iconic roles of Nurse Gladys in Open All Hours and Aunt Mabel in Come Outside were loved by all generations.

“Renowned for her leading roles in West End musicals and dramatic productions alike, we have lost a leading light of our world.

“We extend our deepest condolences to her daughter Sarah, her son Morgan and all her family.”

A cause of death has yet to be revealed.

After hearing the devastating news, thousands have taken to Twitter and praised tribute to Baron.

One tweeted: “Very sad to hear of the news that Lynda Baron has passed away. I remember watching Come Outside well over 20 years ago and still remember learning interesting facts from the episodes. Anyone who grew up during the 1990s will remember it, and Pippin the dog.”

“Pretty sad news hearing that actress Lynda Baron passed away today,” another penned. “Come Outside was such an iconic British TV show in my childhood man… brings back happy memories growing up.

“She helped educate a whole generation of kids she never even met! May she RIP.”

A third wrote: “Devastating news that Lynda Baron has passed away. Come Outside was a favourite of mine as a child. Aunt Mabel will now be able to join Pippin! RIP!”

The Lancashire-native is also known for playing Linda Clarke in Eastenders, as well as minor roles in Last Of The Summer Wine and Dinner Ladies.

In 1966, Baron married John M Lee and they went on to have two children, Sarah and Morgan.
