Jaws Star Has Died

Mark Margolis Dead: Breaking Bad and Scarface actor Mark Margolis has died at the age of 83.

A Jaws star has tragically died.

Jaws is an American horror film series that started with a movie in 1975. It’s gone on to have three sequels, a theme park ride and tie-in merchandise.

It follows a great white shark that attacks people in certain areas of the US and the Bahamas.

Despite the franchise having started many years ago, it remains popular to this day.

Sadly, one of its stars has passed away.

Marc Gilpin has died at the age of 56.

The actor was best known for starring in the blockbuster film Jaws 2 – where he played the son of Police Chief Martin Brody.

He also starred in Earthbound and the Denzel Washington movie License To Kill (not to be confused with the James Bond movie of the same name).

Tragically, Giplin’s sister Peri – an actress well-known for her role in Frasier – has confirmed his death.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gilpin battled glioblastoma, a fast-growing and aggressive brain tumour, and sadly died from cancer in Dallas, Texas.

Back in May 2022, it came to light that he had been diagnosed with two brain tumours – with one located in the central area leading to it being inoperable due to its position.

A GoFundMe page was organised to support Gilpin, his wife Kaki, and their two sons as they bravely battled his ongoing challenges whilst attempting to beat the tumour.

Four months later, an update from Kim Parks, the organiser of the GoFundMe campaign, revealed: “The tumour has not grown, shrunk some, and had no new satellites. Neuro Oncologist very encouraged by the response to treatment.”

As Gilpin battled cancer, his family faced not only emotional heartbreak but also the burden of managing challenging financial issues.

The fundraiser detailed the struggles they endured while trying their best to cope with the situation.

The GoFundMe page reads: “As if this is not enough for this family of four to endure, they are also dealing with significant financial stress. Recently Marc lost his job along with his company-paid insurance plan and has been actively pursuing new employment.”

At the time of writing, the page has raised $44,330 in donations.

Gilpin’s passing has shaken fans of the Jaws franchise worldwide as tributes are pouring in on social media.

One user pens: “RIP Marc Gilpin, Sean Brody in Jaws 2.”

Whilst another user comments: “Heartbreaking. RIP Marc.”

A third user adds: “Such devastating news. Gone but never forgotten.”

In 1978, Gilpin landed the role of Sean Brody, the younger son of Roy Scheider’s Police Chief Martin Brody, in the movie Jaws 2.

The star auditioned after responding to a casting call and triumphed over hundreds of other boys to secure the part in the sequel to Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster.

At the young age of just 11, Gilpin’s performance graced theatres worldwide, leaving an indelible mark on the film.
