Mick Jagger, 79, Responds To Reports He’s Engaged To Woman More Than 4 Decades Younger

Sir Mick Jagger, 79, has responded to reports that he is engaged to his long-term girlfriend, who is four decades younger than him. 

The rock legend found international fame as the lead vocalist and one of the founding members of Rolling Stones.

Jagger, whose career has spanned over six decades, is not shy of the spotlight – especially when it comes to his latest love interest.

The ‘Paint It, Black’ singer is in a relationship with none other than ballerina and former actress Melanie Hamrick, aged 36.

Rumours recently began that the pair’s relationship had moved to the next level when Hamrick was apparently spotted wearing a ‘promise ring’ that was sitting on her engagement finger.

While an alleged source tells The Mirror that Jagger’s partner – who he reportedly met in 2014 – admitted on a trip to New York that they are engaged.

The insider is believed to have told the outlet: “Melanie was at the American Ballet Theatre and she was telling her friends she was engaged to Mick.

“She was very clear her ring is an ­engagement ring and she is now his fiancée.”

The alleged source went on to clarify that there are ‘no plans for a wedding’.

In an interview with People magazine, Hamrick also confirmed that she had been given a ring by Jagger. However, she said it symbolised more of a promise than a formal engagement.

She explained: “I mean, I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes.

“But are we like, h****y teenagers where we’re giving each other… In my mind, it’s a promise ring. We’ll be immature and call it a promise ring.”

Despite various rumours about the couple’s relationship having been shared, representatives for Jagger have spoken out and told The Independent that the reports are nothing more than ‘ill-informed gossip’.

They added that it is ‘not true’ that the couple plan to tie the knot.

Jagger, whose hits include ‘Sympathy For The Devil’ and ‘Satisfaction’, was previously married to Bianca Perez Mora Macias from 1971 to 1978.

Following his divorce from Bianca, went on to propose to supermodel and actress Jerry Hall, who he was known to be in a relationship with from 1977 to 1999.

The pair had an unofficial marriage ceremony in Bali, Indonesia, in 1990 – which was later reported as void.

Jagger and Hamrick welcomed a son in 2016, named Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger.
