Mike Tyson has avoided criminal charges after ‘punching a fellow passenger’ on a plane last month.
According to reports, prosecutors announced on May 10 that the former heavyweight champion’s case has been closed.
DA Steve Wagstaffe is believed to have simply commented: “We now deem the case closed.”

Apparently, the DA’s office reviewed videos of the incident and reports dating from April 20 before coming to the conclusion.
The San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office has reportedly also stated that both Tyson and his alleged ‘victim,’ identified as Melvin Townsend, have requested that the charges not be filed.
It’s believed the outcome has been praised by the 55-year-old’s attorneys, who reportedly thanked law enforcers for their ‘careful, diligent and professional work’.
Last month, TMZ leaked a video of the incident and it quickly went viral.
It appeared to show the legendary boxer ‘punching’ Townsend – who is believed to have been seated behind him – at San Francisco International Airport.

A witness reportedly said that Tyson appeared cordial with fans and was even accepting fans’ requests for photographs before the alleged incident.
Addressing the clip at the time, a representative of the heavyweight champ claimed that it all happened because a fellow passenger ‘threw a water bottle at him’.
They reportedly alleged: “Unfortunately, Mr Tyson had an incident on a flight with an aggressive passenger who began harassing him and threw a water bottle at him while he was in his seat.”
Townsend is believed to have denied this claim.
