Former Neighbours star Miranda Fryer has died aged 34, according to reports.

The actress, who played the role of Sky Mangel in the Australian soap when she was just 18 months old, is believed to have ‘passed away in her sleep’.

In a statement to TV Tonight, her family claimed that she had suffered from ‘issues with her heart’ and simply ‘never woke up’ when she fell asleep sometime last week.

The statement read: “True soulmates, Miranda and Arthur were making plans to start their family, when one-day last week she went to sleep and never woke up.

“We do not know why.

“She had had some health issues with her heart. Maybe her beautiful persona was just too good for this world of ours.

“We, who all loved her so much, shall treasure the memories she has left us with and mourn our loss forever.

“A beautiful child, stunning teenager, beautiful inside, and out… a woman, with so much love and happiness given and received. So many friends, so much still to offer this world, gone.”

In an interview with the Herald Sun, her mother, Traci Hunter, claimed she had a great ‘passion for life’.

She told the publication: “She had so much love and passion for life.

“She was a truly kind, loving person, almost too good to be true … Miranda was adored by everyone.

“She just went to sleep and did not wake up. It is a terrible shock to us all.”

The 34-year-old played the role of Mangel from 1989 to 1991 and was reportedly the first child star that was contracted into a serial drama.

Despite her early success, Fryer apparently decided to have a change of career paths as she grew older.

The former actress had reportedly completed a nursing degree and was soon set to take a postgraduate role in the neuroscience department at Monash Hospital.
