Oprah Winfrey believes that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could make peace with the royal family at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.

The American host, 68, spoke to Extra at the Toronto Film Festival and at one point was asked whether Her Majesty’s death could help the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reunite with the royals.

In response, Winfrey said: “Well, this is what I think, I think in all families – you know, my father passed recently, this summer, and when all families come together for a common ceremony, the ritual of, you know, burying your dead, there’s an opportunity for peacemaking.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were recently seen with Prince William and Kate Middleton outside of Windsor Castle, where the four of them were admiring the tributes that had been left for Her Majesty.

Last year, Winfrey famously interviewed Prince Harry and Markle and the royal couple spoke of stepping away from the royal family.

During the tell-all, Markle claimed there had been ‘concerns’ over the colour of Archie’s skin prior to his birth.

At the time, Winfrey asked: “There’s a conversation with you about how dark your baby is going to be?”

Markle responded: “Potentially and what that would mean and look like.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the Duchess spoke highly of Prince Harry’s grandmother and said that she reminded her of her own grandma.

She commented: “The Queen has always been wonderful to me. I’ve loved being in her company.

“She’s always been warm, welcoming, and inviting.”
