Piers Morgan has slammed Vladimir Putin’s ‘bully-boy tactics’ after Russia declared war on Ukraine.

Taking to Twitter, he slammed the Russian President as ‘shameful’.

He penned: “Putin’s invaded Ukraine. This is an act of war by a bully-boy thug who doesn’t think the rest of the world has the guts or will to stop him. Shameful.”

He followed the post up with a second tweet, which read: “Putin’s doing this because he got away with it last time in Crimea. And if he gets away with it again in Ukraine, he’ll keep invading other countries until he restores the Soviet Union. The world must unite to stop this ruthless dictator – before it’s too late.”

The tweet received hundreds of replies, with one person writing: “Explain how you ‘stop’ one of the biggest nuclear powers in the world without going to war? Is it worth starting a nuclear war over Ukraine? Let’s plunge the world into a Nuclear winter for Ukraine, especially when a chunk of the country actually wants to join Russia.”

Another added: “I agree but hope it isn’t just the UK that stands up to him? [The] US seem to be keeping quiet but what can we expect with Biden? The rest of the world need to stand up to him.”

A third said: “If we get too involved then unfortunately a war will definitely break out. We just about got done with a pandemic and now a war. The world has gone mad.”

Putin sent a chilling warning to the West during an early morning TV broadcast from Moscow on February 24.

He said: “To anyone who would consider interfering from the outside – if you do, you will face consequences greater than any you have faced in history.”

World leaders, including Prime Minister Boris Johnson and President Joe Biden, have now spoken out against him.

The latter said: “The prayers of the entire world are with the people of Ukraine tonight as they suffer an unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces.

“President Putin has chosen a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life and human suffering. Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the United States and its Allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way.

“The world will hold Russia accountable.”
