A woman has sparked a heated debate after saying she won’t leave her daughter alone with male family members.

TikTok user Aubrey, who goes by the username @theorganicmami, ignited the heated discussion on social media after sharing what many believe is to be an unconventional parenting approach.

In a ‘Get Ready With Me’ (GRWM) video, the mother of two outlined her views on raising her daughter, which included controversial decisions about sleepovers, interactions with male relatives and maintaining open communication.

Aubrey begins the video by stating that she has strict rules for her daughter’s interaction.

The mum says in the clip: “No sleepovers, not even with family members. And she will never be left alone with a male. I don’t care if you’re the grandparent, the uncle or the cousin.”

She also stresses her commitment to treating her son and daughter equally: “For instance, me letting my son go out late but not my daughter because it’s too dangerous for a woman – I’m just going to treat them both the same.”

Aubrey also discloses that secrets will not be tolerated, urging her kids to be open with their parents.

“Secrets will not be kept from your parents. And if you’re one of those people now saying ‘I’ll give you candy when your mum’s not here, just don’t tell her’, that’s the quickest way to never see us again,” she says in the video.

Aubrey further outlines her expectations for adults interacting with her daughter.

She says that her daughter isn’t be obligated to kiss, hug, or sit on anyone’s lap simply because they are relatives.

She adds: “She doesn’t have to respect you if you don’t also respect her, as a child she still will have opinions and emotions and she is allowed to feel a certain way.”

The mother’s parenting approach extends to education and healthcare as well.

Aubrey reveals plans to homeschool her daughter, criticising traditional schooling methods that restrict learning.

She also expresses a preference for holistic healthcare methods before resorting to Western medicine.

The mum’s video has received a mix of responses from viewers, generating a heated debate.

One person comments: “She won’t ever be allowed to have sleepovers with her friends? No judgement. Just those were some of my best childhood memories.”

Another adds: “If you know the parents and the kid, I don’t see the harm in sleepovers, they’re honestly some of my best memories.”

However, others are praising the young mother for putting her daughter first.

“So many things happened to me as a child AT A SLEEPOVER!! Good for you mama,” one person remarks.

Another chimes in: “I used to get so mad at my mum for not letting me go to sleepovers. But now that I’m a mum, I understand.”

A third says: “I used to be forced to let male family and friends give me kisses, hugs, and sit on their laps as a kid. It was ‘cute’ and it traumatised me.”
